About us since its inception in , the sri lanka cancer society-kandy branch has maintained an unblemished record of service; providing utmost care, treatment and relief to countless cancer patients over its short history. the cancer home was built in by the parent body with foreign funding on a block of land given by the ministry of health close to the kandy hospital. this building had two wards which accommodated up to twenty patients both male and female. with time the need for increasing patient accommodation was evident and in , a donation from the people 's bank enabled the building of an additional ward in . subsequent to a project proposal submitted to the sri lanka canada development fund, the cancer society was able to receive substantial funding which prompted the construction of an additional ward of fifteen beds, an auditorium and in addition improved its infrastructure facilities. an accommodation facility for overnight stay for patients and their next of kin who visited the kandy hospital cancer unit or the cancer home from distant places and were unable to return on the same day, was built with a donation from a well-wisher. the cancer home, at present, is able to accommodate up to patients including children. the patients come from various parts of the island for deep-ray treatment at the kandy hospital.
